Wood Wool

Discover the perfect harmony of acoustic excellence and biophilic design with Wood Wool panels—a natural acoustic solution revered by architects and designers worldwide. This distinctive material delivers exceptional noise absorption properties while creating a unique textural aesthetic that adds warmth and visual interest to any environment. Beyond its acoustic performance, Wood Wool offers impressive thermal insulation, fire resistance, and structural durability, all in a lightweight format that simplifies installation and reduces project timelines. Made from sustainable wood fibers bonded with cement, this eco-friendly material meets the most stringent environmental standards — giving you a rare opportunity to tell clients you’ve literally turned down the volume by putting more wood on the walls.

Ceiling Panels

Great acoustic control doesn’t need to be complicated. Our Wood Wool panels are made from simple, natural ingredients to deliver honest, high-performance sound absorption for your ceilings.

Ceiling Tiles

Get the speed of a T-grid with the warmth and texture of wood wool. Our acoustic ceiling tiles drop into standard suspension systems to transform acoustics and aesthetics in a single swap.

Wall Panels

Walls do more than carry color – they control the room. Wood wool wall panels add wide-band absorption exactly where reflections bounce between parallel surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is wood wool?

Wood wool (sometimes called wood wool cement board) combines thin wood fibers with a mineral binder. The result is a rigid, textured panel with excellent acoustic absorption and robust durability for interiors.
The interconnected pores between fibers let sound enter the panel and lose energy as heat. Adding an air gap and/or acoustic backer increases low-frequency absorption.

Yes. Ceilings reduce overall reverberation; wall panels break up reflections between parallel surfaces. Treating two adjacent surfaces typically yields the most balanced result. The same panels types also go on both ceilings and walls; there is no difference in what you put where.

Natural wood-tone or factory-painted finishes in a wide range of colors, including custom matches. The surface texture softens light and hides minor scuffs.
It can. Custom painted panels come with touch up paint. Panels are also available in a primed clear from the factory for field painting; spray application works best.
Thickness options range from 5/8″ to 2″. Share your goals and we’ll recommend a thickness/backer combination to hit your acoustic targets.
Performance depends on panel thickness, mounting method, air gap, and backing. We’ll supply third-party lab data for your selected build-up so your acoustician can model the room accurately.

Yes, our Wood Wool panels are Class A fire-rated per ASTM E84 and NFPA 286.

  • Ceiling tiles: Drop into existing grid.
  • Clouds/baffles: Suspended with aircraft cable or rigid frames.
  • Wall panels: Direct-attach with mechanical fasteners; seams can be expressed or minimized based on edge detail.

Yes. Penetrations can be cut in the field to specification, as needed.

Yes. Special care must be taken to install panels with fasteners suitable for humid environments. Please reach out for additional guidance.
Vacuum with a soft brush attachment or dust lightly. For spots, use a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid harsh solvents and abrasive tools.

Wood wool panels are some of the most sustainable acoustic panels produced today. They are made from renewable wood fibers. FSC-certified fibers available. HPD and Declare documentation also available.
